The Church of St Nicholas

The Church of St Nicholas, located in the north part of the Old Town, is the most
important Orthodox church in Kotor. The church was built from 1902 to 1909,
replacing the Orthodox Church which was burnt down in fire in 1896. It’s beauty and
art pieces are hard to explain and it is even harder to decide from where to start –
maybe from two bell towers with its black domes topped by golden crosses, or from
the magnificent mosaic above the entrance, or from the church iconostasis made by
Czech painter Frantisek Ziegler? We can`t decide, so you have to visit it and decide for
yourself which part of this marvelous church is the most beautiful. Have to warn
you – it wont be an easy choice at all!
